Theory of Mind (ToM) involves the recognition that other people have sensations, desires, knowledge, thoughts, and beliefs which influence their behavior. Dr. Mary Sweig Wilson Recognized for Contributions to Field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
(June 11, 2012 – Winooski, VT) Laureate Learning Systems, a company dedicated to developing innovative software for individuals with special needs, is pleased to announce that its Founder and President Dr. Mary Sweig Wilson will receive the 2012 Special Award from the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). This Award is given in recognition of her significant achievements and many contributions to the field of developmental disabilities. Dr. Wilson will accept this Award at the 136th AAIDD Annual Meeting on June 20 in Charlotte, NC.
Laureate Awarded NIH Funding to Develop Software for Children with Autism
Laureate recently received a $1.6 million Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) to develop research-based vocabulary intervention software for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other communication disorders.
